So, I wanted to spend some time capturing all the information about the tools I use and how I have them set up before I can upgrade, and then more time post-upgrade to get them all installed and configured again. As a digital archivist I have downloaded and installed lots of tools to help me do my job - some I rely on quite heavily to help me ingest digital content, monitor files over time and understand the born digital archives that I work with. Whereas colleagues might be able to just set this upgrade off and get it done while they had lunch, I left myself a big chunk of time to try and manage the process.
